This was another piece I did between topics. I was inspired after my school art trip to Paris. We went to a gallery that showcased the artist 'Akseli Gallen-Kallela'. I did a copy of his work and I really liked the range of colours incorporated in the clothing and the face. 

This was a piece I did between topics. It was really to experiment with different materials. This is mainly done using brusho, which allowed the soft tonal change in all water, mountains and sky. However dark recesses were added with a brown felt tip and finally, white paint was added in the water and sky to create a sense of movement.

This is my final piece. I did a batik as it was a media I had never used and was interested in. I think this piece worked well, the colours remain fairly similar in yellow - red - brown tones. I did this as I thought it provided a much more natural palette and linked better with the foetal concept. As it does have some nature reference, the foetal position may be considered as a haven and a state of protection. Batik allowed me to create an abstract piece, while still retaining some detail. The figure in placed in the foreground while the background remains as patterns. I enclosed the figure in a space as shown by the perspective lines, this promotes an sense of entrapment that I liked in a previous piece and the patterns also provide a similar sense of chaos.

This piece was meant to promote contrasting ideas, very similarly to my clown piece and ultimately, it comes down to people's perception of things on how they react to a piece.

This is biro drawing of my own photo. While I think biro allows a dramatic piece due to the dark recesses achieved, it still remains fairly bland. To increase the interest of my piece, I would perhaps work in a different material and create a more abstract background, similar to my previous piece.

This is an etching I did of my own photos. The etching showed the dark recesses of this picture well and helped create a 3D effect. I added a range of colourful swirls in the background as it created a complex and overwhelming border on the image. This was done to show how the foetal position could be considered an entrapment and isolation instead of the usual connotations of protection. 

This is another copy of art history. I liked this image as it shows the foetal position in a very nature based way and promotes the sense of protection. I did this in pencil as it allows for a softer tonal range, which works best with the image. 

This was the start of my new project. I looked at Da Vinci's drawings and did my own copy using biro. I was happy with as the media and Da Vinci's style complimented each other massively. This piece also inspired me to look more deeply at the foetal position as it intrigued me.
