This is my main piece. I decided to use a similar layout as one shown in a previous drawing however, I used acrylic instead as it allowed me to work quickly on a wide scale. It also allowed me to use the palette I thought worked best in my prep. I used black and blues surrounding the eyes as while black provided a good contrast to the pale white faces, it didn't have another depth to be considered as realistic. The red mouths added more interest to the piece and made it eye-catching. In the background I added cards, linking to the 'Joker'.
My thoughts behind this piece came from exploring the different images used in the rest of my work. They all involved the 'unknown'. Masks and make-up cover the true identity of a person. I tried showing this through the contrasting facial expressions shown as people have many different perceptions of clowns. While some consider them as funny, others consider them as their worst fear.
